Maiden of the Lake

Image
Maiden of the Lake    I swear I saw her, the maiden of the lake. I saw her on a late night walk as I passed behind a distant row of trees. My heart beat irregular that night. Something pulled my eyes toward the glimmering lake, I remember vividly.  The night was brisk, the stars shimmered from the sky as their light laid upon the lake like cream. Glittering to the gentle waves created by the oh so bitter wind. My hands rested stiffly in my pockets as I tried to keep warm.  My thoughts were lonely, a cold crisp pattern of thinking yanked my already stressed mind. But as I was walking, battling the torment of my thoughts. The odd sense to veer my eyes toward the mirroring lake led me to see her. To witness the magic I have only heard of.   It was surreal, nothing could have accounted for a more brilliant and magical moment. It was beautiful, a captivating wonder. Nothing could describe what I saw, a woman fair of everything. A woman so vivid of ...

Sammy and the Tear

Image
Sammy and the Tear   Have you heard the story of the girl who made her own world? If not, I suggest you lay back and let your heart and eyes take to the journey.   Sammy, only eight years old grew up in a home far from the rest of the world. A place pinched between two massive mountains. Mountains so high no one has ever seen the top of them. Even on clear days the highest points vanish to the sky.   Growing up, it was only her father and mother. Both whom loved her very very much. But as Sammy grew in age, she found herself to be lonely. She could not explain this concept nor understand the feeling that rested at the bottom of her heart.   But she knew something was amiss in her heart. Reaching age five she had amassed hundreds of imaginary friends. But as time progressed in the world changed in her mind, the imaginary did not suffice as well as it did a few years before.   Sammy had asked her parents numerous times if she could have a brother or...

A Wolf and A Boy

Image
A Wolf and A Boy Theran found a wounded wolf on his way home from his morning education at the Lockly School of Science. A place where many great scientists and mathematicians have been birthed into the academic world and thereafter.   Theran, being the curious and scientific child he is. He stops a short distance from home to observe a wolf. Theran shows no signs of fear, his eyes address the wolf with kindness and the wolf gives no sign of danger; at least from the distance Theran is standing.   Theran continues to look at the wolf as he creeps forward with his book bag in hand. The weather is fickle with snow. Theran barley noticed the wolf as he was walking home. Its white fur blends well with the snow covered ground.   What caught Theran's eyes is the blood that is covering the wolf's face. A large stain of red covers the wolf from the snout to the left its left eye. Theran has always loved animals and has two dogs and cat at home. Which he c...

A Wizardry Death

Image
A Wizardry Death   The old wizard Seper, has his home atop a small hill at the end of the village. Orange groves surround the base of  the hill like a maze. The sweet scent of the groves can be smelled throughout the entire village if the wind sweeps through at just the right direction.  Seper's home is quaint, it is large enough for himself and his wolf Helten. Inside is a surmountable collection of magical things. From liquids, powders, to books of magic that can only be read if you have the spell to read them.   Seper is ninety three years old but is spiritedly as ever. Wizards have an average life span of two-hundred and Fifty. He has a silver beard that reaches his knees and has eyes of turquoise. Some say, his eyes are where he stores his magic.   Every day Seper wakes up and draws open the shutters of his home. Allowing whatever elements to interact with his home. Seper enjoys the company of nature, it is where he spends mo...

The Angels Have not Left

Image
The Angels Have not Left  The sun sets high, it's midday and the kingdom of Erlise is under attack by Herald. Herald is the neighboring king. A king of greed and power, his magic surpasses most. They say he sold his soul to the devil for the power he wields.  His magic is dark, it is fueled by anger and the souls of the damned. His eyes as red as the blood that pumps beneath flesh. He wears a cloak of black, draped over armor built by the hands of demons. His sword, designed in constriction to grow in height.  He wields such a blade with ferocity and rage. As the sun sits high Herald walks the towering steps to the entrance of Erlise. The guards, mere mortals, some bear magic, magic that is cast by word. But most mortals cannot reach beyond the ability to cast a fireball.  They wear armor of silver coated in spells to resist magic. But as they rush to strike down Herald from where he stands. Their armor is capable of no resistance. He slaughters them whe...

The Earth to The Wicked

Image
The Earth to The Wicked     There were no more schools of magic. No more rules, no more laws. The wicked have taken over and the good have been driven to shadow realms. Schools of magic are now the harboring homes of the wicked.     Where spells that were once locked away forever, have now been broken free. An abundance of black market spells are now sold daily on the streets. Passed from one witch to the other. From one evil wizard to the next.   Mages and magical creatures of all types, evil that is, now walk with power. With frightful anger and revenge. The world is now a breeding ground for the evil. Ghosts, beasts, and vile creatures of magic walk the streets openly.   Murder is no longer a foul act of the law, but a mere act of greed. Each wicked heart taken by another, purely for more magic. For more strength to be the ruler of the dark skies. It is forever winters kiss as long as earth is held in the grasp of evil.   No flam...

From the Rift Came the Witches

Image
From the Rift Came the Witches   The rift opens, expanding from another universe. The witches of Malgnant pour from the rift. Ripping through it like dolphins breaching water. Residual fluids from the rift drip from the witches bodies like saliva. Its black contents fall to the ground.  Creating smoke to rise as the droplets burn whatever they touch. The witches, flooding from the rift snarl and laugh maniacally as they circle me. Singing old witch song and taunting me with their presence.   I can feel my skin crawl as they come from the rift like swarms of insects. I stand almost defenseless now, for I lost my staff. Without it, I have no ability keep casting spells. Surrounded, I do my best to ward them off with what little magic I have stored away in...

The Woman in Black

Image
The Woman in Black  She held her hand to the flame. Watching as her flesh became a dripping candle of agony. She screamed with pain but gave no sign of stopping. I heard her screams as I was walking through the woods. Trying to find peace in my own head. Hearing her screams I stopped, adjusted my focus toward the focal point of her voice. I ran to her, I could see her after a only a few moments of running. She was there, at a fire, wearing nothing but a black dress and a dark veil over face. Bloodied misery fell from her lips like moonlight. I rushed to her, telling her to stop. But she gave me no sign of my existence. It was as if nothing else was around. Once I reached her she vanished into thin air. I fell, stumbling over where she should have been. I fell through the air crashing onto the forest floor. I stood up with confusion. As I did, I heard her screams again. I rushed to her again. Finding her in the same position, screaming, watching her own flesh melt from h...

A False Allegation

Image
A False Allegation "Take her to Mount Halden and lock her up, she is not to see the light of day ever again!" Rork slams the gate to the prisoner's carriage and steps away. He tosses the key to the supporting guard command. "Now off you go! Get her out of my sight." Rork turns away and spits out a stem from something he was chewing on. His over bearing stature brings fear into the surrounding guards. They respond in quick haste to his words. The commander of the guards places the key in his satchel and says, "Alright men, you heard him, lets get a move on. It is going to be three days till we reach the top. Lets waste no time." The commander then reaches back into his satchel and removes a flower. A dark red flower with specks of black on the petals. He takes the flower and begins to chew on it for a moment before spitting out the stem. "Don't forget your Wizards Bloom, it'll help you stay awake." The commander s...

A Curse and the Man of Silver Armor.

Image
A Curse and the Man of Silver Armor A few hundred-thousand feet stampede toward the castle. The rumbling of the army can be felt at the foot of the gate. Each warrior screams with mighty rage, their flags held high, which bears a red crown laced in gold, sheltering two golden lions with fiery tongues. The flag waves against the wind. This is no mere flag, it is the mortal enemy of these lands, this castle. The soldiers standing at the castle are gripped by a chill that rushes down their spine in the sight of the flag. But they show no signs of fear. Its a cold winters morning and nature is fierce today. Winds howl as snow is pelted through the air. But the thousands of warriors ignore such elements as their rage blinds them of any bitterness of nature. While others among them are of death, so they carry no nerves to be taken by the frost of winter. As they rush up the small cascade of hills that surround the castle, their stands a man in shimmering armor of silver. He stand...

A Black Rose

Image
A Black Rose  A black rose encased in glass sits idle upon a top shelf. It's gently placed between two black books. The rose case is covered in dust looking to only take up space than give any, all pass by such a spot in the library, keeping keen to what they came for. But on one drizzly afternoon in the quaint town of La Conner a girl in her second year of college. On break from another year of uninspiring classes and endless rhetoric of bland and deceitful philosophy, she wanted to drown her mind into something imaginative and breath taking. She wanted to find her self a story that could bleed her into a world of wonders, mystery, and hope. She was looking for a book that could lead her to such a place. So, upon her second day back, she decided to go to the only bookstore/library in town. Very few went to the library, seeing as most the kids that do live here, are either still away in college or have moved out of town. Those still living her, are mostly retired pe...
