A Sunset Fade to Love

Image
A Sunset Fade to Love      I look to Jessica as we sit across from each other. The train is packed and two strangers sit across from both of us. I am unsure what to say, as this is the end of our trip. The semester is over and soon will be saying goodbye.  This was her last semester before moving to her next step. Her next step to getting her masters and I have I one more to go before my bachelors. So, the tension in my heart is very constricting. She could be moving out of state or staying here, she is unsure still.  And me, I don't think school will be something I aim for after. Maybe a job for a short while then start my own thing. But this could be the last moment, she is flying to see her parents and I am flying back home, which is where our school is.  This abroad semester has been amazing. It has been a living fantasy to be beside Jessica for as long as I have been. And looking at her, her nose is deep into her book so there is n...

Mia's Moment

Image
Mia's Moment    Mia's apricot dress forms to her steps like hanging sheers left to summer wind. Her smile blossoms with a radiant glow. Her makeup composed of complimenting complexions as her jeweled eyes shimmer to the brilliant moment.  Her hands gently grasp a bouquet of wild flowers. Their colors blend with beautiful assertion of their position. Mia, stepping with grace is surrounded by joyful tears and aroused eyes of anticipation. Her arm suddenly and carefully grasped by her father. His heart blissfully excited, yet sorrowed in the giving of his daughter. But his eyes look to the groom with a wondrous embrace as his pepper beard covers is quivering lips.   The audience watches with careful whispers of awe as Mi...

Three Red Horses

Image
Three Red Horses  Three red horses and a horizon to match. A wonderful world, a wonderful sight. But in this beauty, between the glorious light and the everglades of nature, lies something else. Something dark, something sinister. These three red horses ride to the out reach of our vision. We watch them sink the blazing haze of the sun. Becoming nothing but a fading silhouette of elegance. As we watch them fade, the world around us becomes of a fire of its own.  Unwavering anger pours upon our home. It cannot be explained, except that what is happening before us, is the consequence of natures lack of sympathy. It has been nine weeks since a drop of rain has fallen. The animals have fled, even the snakes have found homes elsewhere. We have become barren, we have lived off this land in peace. Yet here we stand, forced to face the rage of earth. It's heart has become heated and it wishes for us to cede to its wild temperament.  Our crops, gone, our hom...
